At this stage, artificial intelligence greatly simplifies daily office work for full-time computer workers. AI can automatically sort files, generate business reports, summarize long articles, organize meeting minutes, and process repetitive data entry. Complex and tedious office tasks that once took several hours can now be completed in minutes. Employees can finish their daily work with less time and effort.
Nevertheless, the convenience comes at a painful cost for ordinary office workers. Most basic office positions rely on mechanical, repetitive and rule-based work, such as data sorting, simple document editing, routine customer reply, and basic administrative arrangement. These positions have no high technical requirements and are easily replaced by intelligent AI systems.
Many small and medium-sized enterprises are reducing their manpower. One person with AI tools can complete the workload of three to five traditional clerks. Companies cut labor costs directly by laying off redundant entry-level office staff.
In the next two years, a large number of ordinary office employees will be eliminated. Only employees who possess comprehensive thinking, business judgment, communication ability and advanced data analysis skills can keep their jobs. AI simplifies office work, but it also ruthlessly crowds out low-value office workers.
